The Diakonia International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Resource Centre was created in 2004 with a mandate to address the ongoing violations of IHL that characterise the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The goal of the Centre is to increase respect for and implementation of international law, and IHL in particular. http://www.diakonia.se/en/ihl/
Type of employment: Temporary for 2 years (with possibility for extension) this position will be an expatriate / international employment.
Planned starting time: August 2016 (or by agreement)
Work place: Diakonias Country office for Israel/Palestine in Jerusalem
Short work task description
· To lead the development, management and coordination of the IHL (international humanitarian law) Resource Centre.
· To be the employers representative with personnel and managerial responsibility for personnel within the IHL Resource Centre.
· To have the budgetary responsibility for operations within the programme.
· To establish and strengthen the relationship with different back-donors and to establish new contacts.
· To secure timely funding for the programme.
· Cooperate with other entities within Diakonia, particularly on IHL-issues.
Requirements
· Proven managerial and human resource leadership, including gender equity experience
· Long-term experience of International Humanitarian Law and international development work from the field with a profound understanding of the role of Civil Society in development processes.
· Knowledge of the Palestine Israeli context
· University degree in related fields for the position.
· Excellent spoken and written English. Swedish language is an advantage
· Good computer skills.
· Ability to communicate in a clear and direct way
